About the event
Rainbow Duanwu Community Creative Workshop is a small-group creative wellbeing workshop for queer Chinese people, Chinese diaspora community members, allies and friends.
Held during Pride Month and around Duanwu / Tuen Ng / Dragon Boat Festival, this workshop reimagines Duanwu through a queer Chinese and diaspora lens. Together, we will explore belonging, identity, resilience, chosen family and community care through performance, creative writing, dragon boat art-making and reflection.
Duanwu is usually remembered through dragon boats, zongzi and Qu Yuan. In some contemporary queer Chinese readings, Duanwu also opens space to reflect on exile, longing, integrity, being misunderstood, and finding people who will keep rowing with us.
